HMD Global is holding an event in Dubai on December 5 where the company is expected to launch three new Nokia phones. Now, based on everything we have been hearing, all fingers point to the Nokia 8.1 aka Nokia X7 as one of the phones. Some reports say the Nokia 9 flagship with penta-camera setup could be the other phone. Nothing is certain as of now, but a new report has spotted cases for both these devices online, which seems to indicate that their launch is imminent and it could happen on December 5.NokiaPowerUser found some listings of official Nokia branded cases for the Nokia 8.1 and Nokia 9. The listing mentions a few cases for “Phoenix” which happens to be the codename for the Nokia X7. The Nokia X7 is widely expected to launch outside of China as the Nokia 8.1 and the listing mentions that the case will be compatible with the Nokia 8.1 as well. This is yet another proof of the existence of the Nokia 8.1 after it was briefly listed on Google’s ARCore supported devices list.Another listing is of a premium clear case for the Nokia 9 PureView, which is what HMD’s upcoming flagship phone is rumoured to be called. The Nokia 9 has been tipped to sport a penta-camera setup on the back, which would make it the first phone in the world to do that. There is still some question regarding its launch. The listing will have you believe that the Nokia 9 will launch on December 5, but past rumours have mostly indicated that the device will launch in MWC in February.advertisementIt would be quite surprising to see HMD launch a flagship phone towards the end of the year as most important launches are concluded before the festive season kicks in. That being said, HMD is yet to launch a proper 2018 flagship so it’s anyone’s guess as of now. Apart from the Zeiss-branded five rear cameras, the Nokia 9 is expected to sport a 5.9-inch QHD+ OLED display and a Snapdragon 845 chipset. The Nokia 8.1, on the other hand, is expected to be the global variant of the Nokia X7. This means the phone will sport a 6.18-inch FHD+ PureDisplay screen and will be powered by a Snapdragon 710 chipset. It will also come with a 12MP + 13MP dual rear cameras with Zeiss lenses and a 20MP front-facing sensor. Both the Nokia 9 and Nokia 8.1 are going to be Android One phones and are expected to ship with Android 9 Pie.
